Description: Mic check check check… Justin Hunte. It’s All Happening. Nipsey Hussle’s estate has settled its lawsuit with Crips LLC over the trademark to Hussle’s slogan “The Marathon Continues.” According to TMZ, Nipsey’s brother Sam “Blacc Sam” Asghedom notified LA County that the two sides have officially come to an agreement. In a statement published by REVOLT, Crips LLC says: “There will absolutely be no trademark legal battle between their organization and Blacc Sam, brother of the late Nipsey Hussle. We realize that our actions may have been offensive and we have reached out to his family, respectively Nip’s sister, Samantha Smith. [We] respectively vow to support the wishes of Lauren London and the Asghedom family.” Now I can’t speak to how certified Crips LLC is or isn't. Nor do I want to. But I do champion gang culture using its influence for good. One of my favorite examples occurred in Killer Mike’s netflix show, Trigger Warning. If you haven’t seen Trigger Warning with Killer Mike, punch yourself in the face. Nipsey Hussle and Killer Mike are cut from similar linen: Mavens making magic out of the craptastic. Prior to his passing, Nipsey was in the process of revitalizing his community minus gentrification. We covered it all in a couple of pieces. Check The Nipsey Hussle’s the Prototype piece. Check the Nipsey Hussle the Art Of The Deal piece. So I’m happy to see that Nipsey’s estate and Crips LLC were able to come to an agreement. Let me know what you think about this in the comments section. Let me know if you’ve tried Crip-a-Cola. I’m Justin Hunte. Like and subscribe to the channel it helps tremendously.
